Stories, sounds and images
24. – 29.09.2012 , Chamisso-Primary-School, Berlin-Märkisches Viertel
The Nordic countries are renowned for their legends and sagas. Whether it’s the famous Kalevallas from Finland, the sagas from Iceland or the Kalevipoeg from Estonia the North is teeming with fantastic tales and sagas. Some of these will be the point of departure of a project engaging pupils. The Figura Ensemble will join up with the Berlin based project ErzählZeit and the story-teller Sabine Kolbe to combine story-telling and music-composing. The results will be presented to the schools in immediate continuation of the workshop.

The concept of
Young Music Journalists is to be understood as a workshop program. It is addressed to young people between 14 and 17 years, who want to visit the preparations for a concert or rehearsal as a reporter as well as interviewing the performing artists, announcing a concert or even writing a review afterwards. The young participants learn about necessary journalistic methods within hands-on oriented workshops, e.g. how to work on a research and to be appropriately prepared, they try out journalistic genres such as reportages, interviews, portraits, features and reviews. Julia Kaiser, a professional journalist and experienced media trainer from Berlin, is holding the workshops. The main focus of the workshops is how to work within an “editorial team”, but also supporting personal development of interests and skills of the individual participants. This workshop encourages the young participants to be curious and open minded but at the same time respectful towards music and artists and their skills, which demand passion and enthusiasm as well as organizing abilities and hard work. To discover this is the most important requirement for becoming a good music journalist. It is never too early to try it out.
Julia Kaiser is a freelance radio journalist in the field of culture and culture education. As a media trainer she refers her experience in journalism and her fascination in her profession to children, youth and young professionals.

Voyage through the Radialsystem V
29. September 2012 19:30 Radialsytem V
The Nordic Night is an essential element of NORDLICHTER. In 2010 this evening was a great success, and the form of a wandering concert created on one hand side a strong and engaging experience for the audience and on the other hand side made room for presenting an unusual program in an uncomplicated way. In 2012 the idea is to gather ensembles from all the Nordic countries and create a course regardless of genres that not only shows the musical variety of the North but also bring together artists that normally do not perform together in the same concert.

Get together
30. September 2012 10:00 Radialsystem V
The Nordic brunch is meant to be a calm oasis where the artists, partner organizers and producers can meet, network and share ideas. Besides presenting an interesting musical program, this event is central to the festival since it’s a platform for getting to know each other even more, developing new collaboration projects and just give the soul a breather on the terrace of Radialsystem V by the river Spree.
